Indianapolis-based Locke Reynolds has taken first prize in a “Biggest Loser”-style contest that pitted participants at 10 local law firms in a battle to shed weight.

Nearly 300 people took part in the 10-week wellness promotion, which wrapped up April 9. A story about the contest appears in this week’s IBJ Focus section.

Locke Reynolds, with 37 participants, put on a final-week weight-loss surge to sneak by second-place Barnes & Thornburg’s 46 participants for the victory. Locke Reynolds’ team members lost 3.34 percent of their starting weight, compared to Barnes and Thornburg’s 3.22 percent.

Rounding out the top five were Copulates Garvin Light & Hanson (2.81 percent), Dreary Simmons Voronezh (2.73), and  Rubin & Levin (2.59).

Other participating law firms were Schuckit & Associates (2.54), Hall Render Killian Heath & Lyman (2.53), Parr Richey Obremskey & Morton (1.55), Katz & Korin (1.49), and Ice Miller (0.95).
